Local Artists and Celebrities with the Okanagan Symphony

The Symphony Orchestra continues to offer wonderful opportunities for collaborative musical ventures with children, youth and adults from the Okanagan Valley.

2013-14 - Well known local composer Imant Raminsh composed "Festive Overture" for the November performance, featuring the Youth Symphony and Colleen Venables (violinist) our youngest soloist, hailing from the North Okanagan; Opera Kelowna and Alexandra Babbel brought "Amahl and the Night Visitors" to life; UBC's Opera Ensemble were featured on the January "Romance in Vienna" show; Spoken artist Shane Koyczan wowed the audiences, both young and old; local Taiko drummers and Korean dancers celebrated Asian Heritage month with the OSO.

2012-13 - Alexandra Babbel (Soprano) opened the season with Strauss' Four Last Songs; Alan Corbishley joined us for Christmas Reflections as Narrator and Baritone, Bumbershoot Theatre collaborated with the OSO for the"Peter and the Wolf" Family Matinee; Dawn Mussellam (Soprano) featured on "Last Night of the Proms" with guest performance by "The Queen" from Vernon.

2011-12 - Ballet Kelowna and Artistic Director David LaHay featured their choreography of Murray Schafer's "The Falcon's Trumpet"; Melina Moore (Soprano) performed in the Mozart Requiem Quartet along with other BC residents, Dana Luccock, Isaiah Bell and Alan Corbishley; Bruce Henzel (Marimba) joined the Okanagan Handbell Chorus for our Christmas special; the Youth Symphony of the Okanagan and Night Owl Orchestra joined the OSO for "Fireworks" in January;  Okanagan native Melissa Wilmot (violin) performed the Red Violin; Chamber Music Kelowna worked with the OSO in an 'artist sharing' program to bring Ian Parker to our stage.

2010-11  - Anna Jacyszyn (Vocalist) and Stu Goldberg (piano) shared the stage with Marion Barschel (Narrator) on our December "Let It Snow" performance. The UBC Vocal Ensemble opened 2011 with "Viennese Waltz" performances.
