Support

The Okanagan Symphony is the third largest professional Symphony Orchestra in British Columbia, and has entertained residents of the Okanagan Valley and visitors from around the globe with symphonic music since 1960. The OSO is dedicated to bringing the passion of symphonic music to life throughout the Okanagan, while educating, entertaining, and reaching out to all generations.

Supporting the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra has direct financial benefits for the community.

Last year the OSO re-invested $750,000 directly back into the pockets of Okanagan based musicians, businesses, hotels, theatres and contract workers.

How is the money spent?

The average cost of a typical OSO concert season is $850,000.

Our funding comes from three sources: 1/3 ticket sales; 1/3 government grants; 1/3 fundraising

Expenses for a typical concert include:
Transportation, accommodation and fees for musicians and guest artists
Theatre and rehearsal hall rental
Sheet music, instrument and stage equipment rental & purchase
Printing and Advertising
Contractors such as Stage Manager, Orchestra Personnel Manager, Music Librarian, Education and Concert Managers
