Martine denBok & Erin Macdonald
Martine denBok is a classically trained, professional violinist with a captivating stage presence and a ‘spine-tingling’ tonal colour palette. A natural born musician who began violin lessons at the age of three, Martine holds a Master of Music degree in Violin Performance, and is the Principal Second Violinist of the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra. A resident of New Denver BC, Martine is a busy multi-instrumentalist and collaborator, most noteably with her acclaimed duo, ‘Freya’ – a group known for their heartfelt and spell-binding instrumental compositions and sweet vocal harmonies.
Originally from Gibsons, BC, Erin Macdonald is Principal Violist of the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra; she also performs regularly with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and is on faculty at the Vancouver Academy of Music. She’s been a member of the Ottawa Symphony, Gatineau Symphony, the National Academy Orchestra and the Orford Arts Centre Orchestra.
Erin showed a love for classical music from an early age, making her living room concert debut conducting a teddy bear orchestra with a chopstick. Piano lessons soon followed, as well as other musical pursuits, before Erin eventually settled on the viola as her instrument. Erin holds degrees from the University of Ottawa (M.Mus),The Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music (Art. Dip.), and the University of Victoria (B.Mus).
