Fiddle Workshop

Fiddle Workshop with Daniel Lapp
Saturday, March 8, 1:00 – 2:30 PM
Rotary Centre for the Arts, Kelowna
Join master BC fiddler Daniel Lapp for a unique behind-the-scenes workshop about fiddle music in British Columbia and beyond. Tunes will be taught by ear, along with discussion regarding bowing and ornaments. Bring your recording device to ‘take home’ the music for further exploration on your own. Although the focus of most of the session will be on ‘fiddle playing,’ the workshop is open to all chording instruments with some guidance given to accompaniment styles. No experience in ‘fiddle playing’ is needed, but a minimum of 2 years of violin lessons or equivalent to Suzuki book 2 (completed) is required to participate. Advanced musicians are also encouraged to attend with more in-depth questions around style and ornamentation.
$25/person
Registration is limited to 40 participants
Musicians with ‘not-enough-experience’ to play along are welcome to sit at the back and audit the workshop to take in discussions about BC Fiddle Music and listen to the tunes being taught. Limited space for auditors is available, first come first serve. Admission for auditors is by a suggested $20 donation at the door.
