OSO Alexander Technique Workshop with Erin Macdonald

The Alexander Technique is an educational practice that allows greater ease of movement and improves awareness and posture by addressing our habitual responses to stimuli. Anyone can benefit from the Alexander Technique. Musicians have found the technique beneficial for injury prevention and enhanced performance. 

This introductory workshop will give a brief overview of the Alexander Technique. Erin Macdonald will work with music students, musicians, or anyone interested in applying the basic principles of the technique to their instrument or daily lives.  She will use both verbal and hands-on guidance. 

Audience members are invited to follow along with the workshop but will not receive hands-on instruction.  

Erin Macdonald is a certified Alexander Technique Instructor. She is also the principal violist of the OSO and will be featured as one of two soloists at the OSO’s concert “Kindred Spirits,” February 9–11, 2024.  

  • Open to ages 16+ 
  • No prior Alexander Technique experience necessary  

The workshop will include floorwork. Please bring a yoga mat or beach towel and wear comfortable clothing.

Get hands on instruction by Erin! She will work with you on the mat and sitting down as well as help applying the basic principles of the technique to your instruments (Registration required)

Follow along! Join the group exercises, listen and observe Erin’s work without getting hands on instruction 

$15/person

  • All participants must be healthy to attend as there is close physical proximity 
  • All participants must wear a mask
