The 2026 Imant Raminsh Scholarship was awarded to Josh Desjarlais, the OSYO’s principal French horn player. He graduated from the OSYO and Mount Boucherie Secondary in West Kelowna this summer to go to the University of Toronto for a Bachelor of Music in performance.
Josh joined the OSYO on fourth horn four years ago and has since then worked his way up to the principal chair. This spring, he performed the 1st movement of Glière’s Horn Concerto as a soloist. Over the last two years, Josh was part of the OSYO Composition Program where he wrote two excellent compositions. His aspirations are to play in a professional symphony orchestra, to start a horn studio and to write, record and release his own music.
Josh has contributed to the OSYO in many ways, not only with his musical gifts but also as a gentle and kind human. He will be dearly missed.
